Postpartum Care Unit

The Postpartum Care Unit at Behboud Hospital provides a calm, safe, and well-equipped environment for mothers, with the aim of delivering the highest standards of care and fulfilling the hospital’s mission to safeguard the health of mother and neonate. Drawing on an experienced staff of specialist midwives and unique amenities, the unit is located on the first floor of the hospital.

Location and Comfort Amenities

The unit consists of 8 separate rooms, both single and double. The design and construction of the rooms strictly observe international hygiene and care standards. (One isolation room and one 3-bed room for high-risk pregnancies opposite the nursing station.) Notable features of the space include:

• Pleasant view: Most rooms have an attractive, open view of the city, which substantially supports the mother’s emotional well-being.
• Dedicated bathroom: Each room is equipped with a private bathroom to ensure mothers’ independence and comfort.
• Climate comfort: All rooms benefit from modern, standard heating and cooling systems.
• Standard, pleasant environment: Lighting and color schemes are fully adjusted to psychological and hygiene standards to provide a setting filled with calm during the mother’s recovery. All these efforts aim to ensure the comfort and well-being of mothers.

Specialized Services

The Postpartum Unit at Behboud Hospital admits all mothers who have given birth by cesarean section or normal delivery, as well as those undergoing fetal expulsion, curettage, cerclage, and mothers under pregnancy observation. Comprehensive services include:

• Therapeutic and nursing care: 24/7 services by experienced personnel to accelerate the mother’s recovery.
• Pregnancy and postpartum care: Special support and care for pregnant and postpartum mothers, including management of pregnancy complications and necessary surgical care.
• Specialized breastfeeding education: One of our top priorities is teaching mothers correct, evidence-based breastfeeding principles to ensure a successful and pleasant experience.

Baby-Friendly System

As a baby-friendly center, Behboud Hospital implements global standards in this unit:

• Adjacency of units: The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the neonatal unit are designed in direct proximity to the Postpartum Unit and the LDR, so that the fastest, best care can be delivered to the neonate when needed.
• Skin-to-skin care: This valuable practice is implemented immediately after birth and helps strengthen the emotional bond between mother and neonate.
• Rooming-in: The simultaneous transfer program for mother and neonate (rooming-in) is rigorously followed in this unit so that the mother can spend her recovery period more peacefully alongside her baby.

Specialized Team and Experienced Personnel

The personnel of this unit, including experienced and trained midwives who have completed specialized and mandatory training programs, are prepared to provide care of the highest quality to mothers. Behboud Hospital consistently emphasizes the advancement of its staff’s scientific level. To this end, the unit’s personnel regularly participate in retraining courses and specialized seminars related to midwifery and neonatology and keep their knowledge up to date.

Post-discharge follow-up of mothers up to 42 days after delivery, with responses and guidance provided to mothers.
