Audiology Department, Behboud Hospital

The audiology department of Behboud Hospital, with a dedicated specialist team including Dr. Karim Gharashi (audiologist and post-doctorate in cognitive rehabilitation), Dr. Vahid Shieh Zadeh, and Dr. Saeedeh Bibak (audiologists), operates as a leading unit in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of hearing disorders. The department is located adjacent to the ENT clinic on the third floor of the Nobar Building and provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services with full audiometry equipment for adults, children, and newborns during morning and evening shifts.

Key Services

Our key services include diagnostic audiometry for children and adults, neonatal hearing screening (OAE and AABR), specialized neuro-auditory evaluations (ABR and ASSR), auditory rehabilitation, evaluation and treatment of vestibular disorders (positional vertigo), prescription and fitting of digital and smart hearing aids, and specialized cochlear implant consultation. The department serves clients referred from the ENT, neurology, and pediatric clinics of the hospital, as well as from private practices and government centers in the cities throughout the province and the northwest of the country.

Scientific Emphasis

Our scientific emphasis is on early diagnosis and regular follow-up; in the early years of life, hearing plays a decisive role in the development of language, cognition, and social interaction in the child, and even mild hearing loss can affect speech development and learning. The basis of our care includes performing specialized neonatal tests and their periodic repetition (OAE, ABR, ASSR), as well as assessing risk factors such as premature birth, NICU admission, severe jaundice requiring blood exchange, family history of hearing loss, use of ototoxic medications, auditory or general infections, and exposure to very loud noises.

At the audiology department of Behboud Hospital, we are committed to designing the best diagnostic and therapeutic path for each patient through the integration of up-to-date knowledge, advanced equipment, and an interdisciplinary approach, in order to improve hearing quality and quality of life from infancy to old age. For appointments, further information, or referrals, our team is ready to respond and accompany you.
