Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is one of the dynamic and active specialty fields of medical sciences. Using the science of biomechanics and kinesiology (the study of movement), the principles of exercise therapy, education, mobilization, and physical and electrical modalities (TENS, ultrasound, laser, shock wave, infrared, diathermy, magnet, interferential, and others), it treats acute and chronic pain and physical and motor disorders resulting from injury, trauma, and diseases of musculoskeletal, neurological (peripheral and central nervous system), cardiovascular, respiratory, and endocrine origin.
Physiotherapy works to improve the patient’s physical functions through physical assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, patient education, physical interventions, rehabilitation, prescription of assistive devices and splints, exercise therapy, manual therapy (manual treatment maneuvers), dry needling, electrical modalities, hydrotherapy, heat and cold therapy, and others, thereby promoting the health of patients and clients.
The physiotherapy department of Behboud Specialty and Subspecialty Hospital, with many years of dynamic activity and under the responsibility of physiotherapist Mehran Etmani (physiotherapy expert), in cooperation with physiotherapist Elaheh Mohammadi Majd (physiotherapy expert), has consistently been at the forefront of providing all of the following specialized physiotherapy services:
- Orthopedic disorders (such as joint injuries, fractures and dislocations, muscle and ligament strains, nerve entrapments, osteoarthritis, muscle imbalances, heel spurs, motor restrictions, and others).
- Neurological disorders (such as injury or strain of peripheral nerves, Bell’s palsy, neuropathies, Guillain-Barre syndrome, stroke and hemiplegia, multiple sclerosis (MS), cerebral palsy (CP), spinal cord injury (SCI), and others).
- Occupational and sports injuries and injuries caused by repetitive movements and static postures.
- Spinal pain and disorders (discopathy, arthritis, spinal canal stenosis, vertebral slippage, facet joint dysfunction, scoliosis, and others).

The physiotherapy department of Behboud Hospital is located on the second basement level of the main hospital building and is equipped with the maximum facilities and equipment required for patients. The unit operates during morning and evening shifts (7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day except holidays), serving the hospital’s own patients as well as those referred from other centers, practices, and clinics. In addition to the technical supervisors, female and male specialist personnel also work in the department.
